Why Am I Not Receiving Emails from the Forms on my Website?
Not Receiving Emails from Website
If you have a form on your website, such as a Contact Us or employment application form, you should ideally receive all submissions via email. However, due to email spam filters, this doesn’t always happen perfectly. Emails from your website might get caught in these filters.
Spam filters come in various forms. If you use Outlook, Apple Mail, or Gmail, check your spam folder for these emails. If you use a dedicated spam filtering service, you might need to log in to their website to find emails in a designated spam repository.
When launching a new website, it’s crucial to ensure these emails get through. If they don’t, you may need to whitelist your server or adjust your spam filter settings to recognize these emails as legitimate.
Did I Just Lose Everything?
At Mid-West, we don’t solely rely on email for form submissions due to the potential issues mentioned. We always provide a backup on your website. You can check your website’s Dashboard or Administration area and look for the “Forms” component or plugin. In that section, you’ll find a place called “Submissions” where a copy of everything sent is stored as a backup. From there, you can download or export the data as needed.
E-Commerce Websites
If you own a website with a shopping cart or e-commerce functionality, you should never rely solely on email for order notifications. Instead, log into your website several times a day to check and confirm orders. Additionally, reconcile this information with your payment gateway software to ensure that each transaction was processed successfully and nothing was missed.
What to Do
If you’re not receiving email that you think you should be, then find out if you have any spam/junk email filters in place.
Email can be set up a large variety of ways, so filtering might not be the issue but it’s the best place to start since this is usually what is happening.
